The TARDIS is pulled out of the vortex and materializes in real space next to a huge derelict spacecraft. Near it is an Earth vessel. Stan brings the TARDIS onto the Earth ship in an attempt to learn more about the derelict. Aboard the ship, Stan discovers that the only lifesigns are aboard the shuttles in the shuttle bay. On their way there, they group is attacked by what appears to be ghosts. They escape in the TARDIS. The derelict appears to be having a distructive affect on the space-time continuum. Stan brings the TARDIS onto the derelict. There they discover the ship is a vast time-travelling ship that is stuck in two times at once, causing a rip in space-time. While trying to help the ghosts (who turn out to be the derelicts crew caught between time) the derelict is attacked by a force of powerful ships and soldiers. The soldiers commandeer the derelict and kill the ghostly crew. Stan learns these soldiers are from Gallifrey's future and they intend on bringing Stan forward in time to stand trial for Celestial Interference! Stan escapes in the TARDIS and they are able to pull away from the custody of the future Gallifreyan forces by sending Lee Liu's time-travelling organ into the vortex, thus disrupting the Gallifreyan's hold on the TARDIS.
