Blobs From South Carolina

Stan
and the TARDIS crew are spending a relaxing afternoon at a country diner in
Chester, South Carolina. Natasha goes
off to do some antique shopping while the others have lunch. A naked man appears on the street and
collapses. The locals say that the man
is named Louis. Louis is a farm hand
who disappeared three nights ago while working in the tobacco fields.
Louis
is taken to the hospital, and Stan decides to investigate his
disappearance. Stan learns nothing at
the tobacco fields, and so heads back to town to question Louis. Louis tells a
tale of being abducted by giant black blobs. The blobs experimented on him and
others.
Stan
decides to talk to the sheriff to see if any other people have gone missing
recently. At the police station, they
meet some mysterious men in black who are also investigating the
disappearances. When Stan says he is from UNIT, the men get anxious and leave.
Stan discovers a map they were looking at and the group gets the sheriff to
drive them out to Sumter National Forest on County Road 72 to a spot marked
with an 'X' on the map.
After
searching the forest for a while, the group discovers a burnt landing mark on
the ground.
Back
in town, the group meets Colonel Dougherty and
UNIT. They are here investigating the abductions as well. Dougherty explains
that the MIB are an old branch of the US government that has failed to die
out even with the forming of UNIT. Dougherty believes Louis will soon disappear
again as is the pattern in these abductions.
In
the hospital room, Louis again begins to disappear and Stan grabs a hold of
him, disappearing with him. Lee Liu and Paramanthea go back to the TARDIS,
getting inside with a key Lee Liu 'borrowed'. Through amazing luck, Lee Liu is
able to pilot the TARDIS into earth orbit.
Stan
awakens in a jungle of some sort. He recognizes various types of plants from
various planets in the galaxy. Louis fears the blobs will come to get him, and
he is not mistaken. They enter the jungle (which Stan discovers to be a large
garden inside a spacecraft), and absorb Louis. Stan tries to flee but is also
absorbed by the blobs. Stan awakens bound to a clinical table. Louis is being
dismembered by the blobs. When they are finished, the blobs move to Stan and
begin preparations to experiment on him. They stop when Stan's physiology turns
out not to be human. They recognize him as a Time Lord. Stan learns the blobs
are an alien race called the Fleen, and they wish to discover all knowledge.
They agree to let Stan go and leave the Earth alone if he gives them all the
information in the TARDIS data banks.
The
Fleen ship engulfs the orbiting TARDIS and Stan is allowed to enter. The Fleen
then sense Paramanthea and want to study her mind as well as gain the
information from the data banks. Stan does not trust the Fleen and goes along
with a plan forwarded by Paramanthea and Lee Liu...The TARDIS materializes
around the Fleen spaceship and enters the Vortex. Then Stan jetisons the room
in which the ship is held, trapping the Fleen in the Vortex.
Stan
takes the stolen key back from Lee Liu, and the group heads back to Earth
to collect Natasha.
